Band Gorillaz to host their very own music festival

On 10th June the band Gorillaz are set to perform for the first time in over five years. The come-back will take place at their very own music festival, Demon Dayz.

Demon Dayz Festival has been named after the success of the band’s second record and will take place in Margate’s Dreamland amusement park. Gorillaz are reportedly the only band set to perform so far. Tickets will go on sale for £60.00, with priority option at £70.00 per ticket.

Fans are speculating whether the festival will come alongside a release of new music content. The band have been teasing that there is new music to come for the past year. It gets even more exciting, as there has also been talk of a new single featuring English artist and musician, Benjamin Clementine.

The last performance recorded of the band was in 2011, so for people who disappointingly don’t manage to get tickets for the festival Red Bull will be live streaming the whole performance via Redbull tv.

On the subject of footage, snippets of music have been hitting Instagram for a long time in the run up to this announcement. This has mostly been shared on Jamie Hewett’s account, and features shots of Damon Albarn returning to the studio.

Damon Albarn, Gorillaz musician, said the new record would be “really fast”, adding “it’s got quite a lot of energy.”

The last update included a tease from Hewlett, “I’m working on it at the moment, and it’s going very well. I’m very excited. I don’t want to say too much about it, but I’m at that phase of experimentation.”

According to Jamie Hewlett the new music will be released later this year, while fans are eager for it to be released in time for the festival. Although, collaborators have assured fans they aren’t going to rush the process as what they are working on “is really special”.
